"Let Justice Be Done" is a story portraying the life of an outstanding self made man who was
dedicated to the principals of justice and fairness. It encompasses his life from a young lad
in Cobb County, Georgia, who, with only an eighth-grade education was successful in every endeavor he
pursued. He served as a court recorder for a Superior Court , private practice for eleven years, Superior
Court Judge of the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit for eighteen years and rose to the highest judicial position
in the state; a seat on the Supreme Court of Georgia.
It also covers in some detail several of his important trials that created national attention.  The Peek murders

investigation and trials, reviewed in some detail, are examples of a story  that created national
attention in the 1930s and was featured on "Big Story". A  radio program similar to "Gang Busters".
of the same period. One chapter is devoted to the double murders said to be better than a
    dime  novel.
It was fortunate for me to have had the opportunity to spend time with the Judge and to listen to
his wisdom and wit; both are  frequently demonstrated in this book. It was especially a joyful
experience to observe the twinkle in his eyes, his gentleness, his  courage,  his fidelity, and his
unbridled love for his family. Judge Hawkins showed his Christian loyalty on the bench and in every
    facet of his life.
As you will see none of these qualities diminished his ability and determination to fearlessly make decisions
that fairly and justly complied with the laws and the Constitution, to bring equal justice to
all who came before him. An associate said that Judge Hawkins’ obvious concern and consideration
for any defendant would have moved a heart of stone.
In the story you will see that great love and admiration of him is expressed in letters, newspaper
articles and many other kind and thoughtful ways .Learned dignitaries marvel at the extent of
his success as an attorney, public servant and the depth of his natural abilities .
The above qualities and characteristics are the criteria by which we judge a man’s greatness.
